Getting Started

Installation

In this tutorial, I will show you how to install Magento 2 Blog Extension. Let’s see the detail and follow our tutorials step by step.

To install the magento 2 blog extension, please follow instructions bellow:

1. Back up your web directory and store database.

2. Download blog extension installation package

3. Upload content of the blog extension installation package to your store root folder via FTP/SFTP:

4. Connect to your store root directory with SSH

cd path_to_the_store_root_folder

Run 3 commands bellow:

php -f bin/magento setup:upgrade
php -f bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy
php -f bin/magento setup:di:compile

5. Flush store cache, log out from the backend and log in again

Import Sample Data

1. Go to admin > Venustheme > Setup > Import

2. Select the sample data file

3 Refresh the cache under System->Cache Management

How To Configure Blog Extension

In this tutorial, I will show you how to Configure Blog Extension in magento 2. Let’s take a look at our tutorials below.

Now, it is time for us to set up blog in your magento 2 backend

Firstly, it is highly suggested to run through setting before creating your first blog post. This will help you better understand how the extension work; simultaneously, you can take use of all setting to create your blog post look and feel as your expectation

In order to config in the backend, please go to Admin Panel > Stores > Configuration > VENUSTHEME EXTENSIONS > Blog > General Setting

1. General Setting

+) Enabled: To enable/disable your blog extension
+) Blog URL Preffix: defines the direct link to the main blog page of your store eg: http://domain.com/blog
+) Blog URl Suffix: add to the end of blog url eg http://domain.com/blog.html
+)  Use Categories Indentifier In Posts URLs: Enable/disable categories identifier in URL link

+)  Date Format: choose one of 4 types to show date & time

How To Create Blog Category

In this tutorial I will show you how to create blog category in magento 2. Blog Category brings better navigation, management for your customers. It is also a helpful tool for you to highlight the post theme

  1. Category Information

Firstly, click on ” Create Category” button to add your blog category > Fulfill Category Information

+) Name: define title of your new category
+) Indentifier: define url link for category
+) Image: add image for category
+) Parent Category: You can add this new category as a sub-category into any parent category; if not, let it blank

+) Description: add description for category

+) Storeview: select storeview for category

+) Position: add desired number position for your category

+) Status: Enable/ Disable category

After you finish setup your first category. It’s time to create your first blog post.

+)  Canonical URLIf you have duplicate content, you have to tell search engines that certain similar URLs are actually one and the same. Hence, this Canonical URL field will help you. You should indicate the preferred URL with the rel=”canonical” link element

+) Page Title: Type your post title that will be shown at the top of it;

+) Keywords: Set keyword for your post

+) Description: Write meta description that will be shown on search engine results

4. Posts

To choose posts for your category, you just need to clicking to select the posts you want and put number position for each post

How To Create A New Post

In this post I will show you how to display blog posts in magento 2. In other words, the  magento 2 display blog posts tutorials help you to create your first new post, please go to Magento admin panel > Ves Blog > New Post

3.1 Fulfill Post Information

+) Post title: define title for your post

+) Indentifier: define url link for your post

+) Image Types: choose to show video or image

+) Thumbnail: choose to show video or image

3.2 Content & layout

+) Short Content: short content is used in case your post is longer than expected. Hence, short content is the best choice to save your post space and make it look neat & clean

3.3 SEO

In these section, it is very easy to add Related Posts and arrange them in order that you expected. All you need is choose the post you want to show and put it in the position you want

4. Author Profile

Author profile give you a golden chance to tell readers something exciting about yourself.

General Questions

General questions about the extension Ves Blog

1, How to integrate Ves Blog into 3th party theme (Ex: Porto, Ultimo,…)?

  • The module we are using bootstrap 3 (12 columns) css file. So there theme are using same bootstrap version, it will conflict styles with the module and theme. To resolve it, we recommend disable bootstrap css file in Ves Blog module.
  • Create folder Ves_Blog/layout/ into the theme folder app/design/frontend/[Vendor Name]/[Theme Name]/
  • Create the file default.xml in Ves_Blog/layout/ folder. Then add content for it as this:
